Bodacious Pulled Pork Sandwich
Ingredients
- 3–4 lbs pork shoulder (Boston butt, boneless or bone-in)
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth (or water)
- 1 ½ cups Sauce Bros Bodacious Apple Pie BBQ Sauce (divided)
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp cayenne (optional, for heat)
- Sandwich buns, toasted
- Optional toppings: coleslaw, cilantro, extra Bodacious Apple Pie BBQ
Instructions
Season the Pork:
Rub pork shoulder with brown sugar, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne.
Load the Crock Pot:
- Place sliced onion and garlic in the bottom of the crock pot.
- Set pork on top.
- Pour in broth and 1 cup Bodacious Apple Pie BBQ Sauce.
Slow Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 8–10 hours (or HIGH for 4–5 hours), until pork is fork-tender.
Shred & Sauce:
- Remove pork, shred with two forks, and discard excess fat.
- Pour in some of the juices from the pot. Until you reach your desired flavor and wetness.
- Stir in ½ cup more Bodacious Apple Pie BBQ Sauce.
Assemble Sandwiches:
Pile pulled pork onto toasted buns, drizzle with extra sauce, and top with coleslaw or cilantro if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, brush the inside of the buns with melted butter, toast them on a skillet, and then load with saucy pulled pork.
